Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Associate Director of Research to the Research group at NYC Health + Hospitals/ Kings County. The Hospital is part of the NYC Health + Hospitals. Kings County Hospital operates a world-renowned Level 1 Trauma Center, one of only three in Brooklyn, which serves 2.6 million residents of Brooklyn and Staten Island.
The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University To maintain its high healthcare delivery standards.

The Associate Director of Research at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County will have three principal roles: administrative responsibility for research at Kings County, organizing and running our internal IRB, and research finance at Kings County. The role includes supervision of the Kings County Research Coordinators and other non-medical research staff. This individual will report to the Facility Research Chair.
- Provides general research oversight to the facility
- Provides research management and support to research administrators and study teams
- Facilitates the H+H research pre- approval process at the facility including contract negotiation process, IRB assistance, and budget requirements
- Facilitates the H+H approval process in STAR
- Acts as a research liaison along with the FRRC Chair between the study teams, research administrators and all personnel involved in research including the HHC Research Administration Office (RA), other HHC facilities and academic affiliates
- Supervises and mentors Kings County research coordinators and other non-medical research personnel
- Interacts regularly with the Volunteer Office and Academic Affairs for research volunteers
- Organizes and administrates the Kings County FRRC
- Schedules, prepares agenda, and chairs FRRC meetings
- Manages submission, review, and correspondence with investigators
- Schedules Feasibility Consults
- Monitors and facilitates Research Finance
- Develops annual budgets for trials/projects
- Monitors research billing activity/purchases/expenditures
- Instructs and assists Principal Investigators in financial matters and residual spending
- Assists PIs and research administrators with budget finalization and contracts negotiation process
- Assists PIs with Institutional Review Board (IRB) questions/concerns
- Communicates regularly with key departments involved in research, including but not limited to RA, IRBs, Finance and Pharmacy
- Assists RA with the coordination of multi-site studies and the identification of potential facility PIs
- Develops facility- specific regulatory, education and training materials when needed
- Ensures that research activities follow Corporate and Facility compliance and regulatory guidelines
- Offers training on the HHC research approval process to study teams, reviewers as well as other personnel involved in research activities when needed
- Identifies grant opportunities and Electronic Approval System (STAR)
- Trains study teams and reviewers on its use
- Conducts initial assessment of submissions
- Guarantees completion of submissions prior to submitting for official review
- Selects appropriate FRRC reviewers; calls on ad-hoc reviewers if additional expertise is needed then fields application to all Committee reviewers
- Send reminders to reviewers with aging submissions; identifies areas of delay
- Ensures that H+H approvals are current
- Monitors and validates research billing activity
- Works with local Budgets office to create and maintain project budgets
- Creates purchase orders for annual research expenditures
Qualifications
- CITI (Certification in Human Subjects Protection)
- A Bachelors degree with 8 years research experience and 3 years administrative; or -A Masters degree with 5 years research experience and 2 years administrative
