The PAGNY Board of Directors last month honored Antonio D. Martin, who after dedicating more than three decades to serving the New York City public hospital system is stepping down to take a senior executive position in Texas. For the last five years, Mr. Martin has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the NYC Health + Hospitals, where he was an unwavering advocate of PAGNY and its mission to provide patient-centered care to New York City’s underserved communities.
Dr. Bijan Safai, President of the PAGNY Board of Directors, said, “We wish Mr. Martin the best of luck in his future endeavors and thank him for being such a supportive partner of PAGNY throughout his tenure at NYC Health + Hospitals.”
Dr. Luis R. Marcos, PAGNY CEO, said, “It has been a pleasure to work closely with Tony over the years in his many senior positions in the City’s hospital system. There has been no stronger champion of PAGNY. His leadership and guidance will be missed.”
At NYC Health + Hospitals, Mr. Martin oversaw the restructuring of the City hospital system and had broad operational responsibility for the organization. Previously, he served as Executive Director of NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County and Executive Director of NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens. Mr. Martin is joining the executive team at Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, Texas, where he will be reunited with Dr. Benjamin Chu, former president of NYC Health + Hospitals.
