PAGNY’s Dr. Jonathan K. Mays featured in the New York Times

PAGNY’s own Jonathan K. Mays, MD, Director of Obstetrics and Maternal Fetal Medicine at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, is featured in an article on cholestasis of pregnancy in the Parenting section of the New York Times. Cholestasis is a relatively rare liver disease that can cause perinatal morbidity and mortality, and has been shown to disproportionately affect Latinas and other specific groups. Dr. Mays has been studying cholestasis in our patients for over 15 years, and has developed a protocol here at Metropolitan that has significantly reduced infant mortality.
