PAGNY and the PAGNY Health and Research Foundation are pleased to invite you to participate in the upcoming virtual Grand Round titled: Psychological First Aid, which will be held on Monday, August 24, 2020 from 11:30 AM to 1 PM.
The primary intent of this training is to provide participants with a framework to provide support to someone who has experienced a disaster. Psychological first aid can be used by anyone working with community members to enhance resilience in the aftermath of catastrophic events and more local emergencies such as community violence.
Program Details: This webinar will be live-streamed and archived on the Foundation website in the Grands Round section under Events and Programs. These programs are open to All PAGNY clinical and non-clinical staff who register.
CME Information: The New York Medical College designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1.5 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Learning Objectives:
After completing this program, participants will be able to:
- Describe the expected distress reactions people have after a disaster.
- Engage supportably with people experiencing emotional distress.
- Provide short-term interventions to reduce emotional distress.
- Identify who may need additional supports and link them to longer-term services.

Lisa Furst, LMSW, MPH, is the Assistant Vice President at Vibrant Emotional Health, where she directs the Center for Policy, Advocacy and Education and is the Director of the Geriatric Mental Health Alliance of New York. Lisa has nearly 15 years of experience providing public education, training and technical assistance focused on mental health.
