Leadership Program
PAGNY’s Physician Leadership Development Program (PLDP) is an all-encompassing leadership module designed to improve current skills and ensure success in future openings for leadership roles. PLDP trains emerging PAGNY leaders who demonstrate an eagerness to take on new responsibilities and initiatives, and are nominated by hospital leadership.
Since establishing the PLDP in 2017, more than 80 have graduated from the PLDP, most of whom have gone on to positions of greater responsibility. This program underscores our firm belief that creative and responsive leadership is essential for organizational transformation.
What We Do
Each year, PAGNY provides our six-month leadership development training program to two cohorts of up-and-coming physicians/dentists (20-25 per cohort) from across seven of New York City’s public hospitals and several affiliated clinics. We celebrate their strengths and round out their skill sets. The curriculum is based on each participant’s unique needs, as identified by their respective Chief Medical Officers and PAGNY leadership. Offering up to 30 continuing medical education credits, the curriculum includes: Cultural sensitivity/Implicit-bias; Self-awareness; Communication; Project scoping/development; Conflict resolution; Collaborative leadership; Personal Branding Action Learning Project.
PAGNY's Emerging Leaders
PLDP participants are either newly-appointed chiefs of service, or physicians and dentists with high leadership potential who are nominated by their supervisors/administration. They bring a wide variety of clinical and life experiences that add to the richness of our program. Emerging leaders build networks with colleagues from their home-based hospitals and other PAGNY-affiliated hospitals and/or clinics, helping to create communities of collaborative leaders and agents of change.
Open only to nominated candidates. If interested, please inquire with your CMO or division chief on nomination eligibility.
